Londoner Jason Flannery says he doesn’t even know how to cook, but he’s come up with a kitchen creation that’s leaving the competition in the garburator.

"I can barely make toast adequately," he says.

Flannery entered the Tim Hortons Duelling Donuts contest and made it through to the final eight, out of 63,000 entries. In the competition, contestants stacked up delectable ingredients, to create one super-sweet sensation.

The finalists were chosen by Canadian actor Jason Priestley.

Flannery dubbed his donut "Oreo Borealis" and describes it as “simple, yet elegant."

He says he came up with the name fairly easily. "What's something iconic about Canada and kind of goes with Oreo: Oreo Borealis."

It’s up against the Monkey-C Donut, Monkey Do-nut, which has a banana filling and is topped by Reece’s Pieces in a quarter-final square off.

A couple of the other creations in the quarter-final are Don’t Touchie My Dutchie and S’More Of It.

Canadians coast to coast have a chance to vote for their favourite donut creation on the Tim Hortons website, until Aug. 18.

The winner of the contest will receive $10,000 and may have their donut produced at the popular coffee chain.

"I'm hoping I have a shot," Flannery says.

Flannery, who works downtown, has his daily breakfast and lunch at Tim Hortons, so winning the $10,000 could go, perhaps, to having his dinner there as well.
