Two London women are celebrating big lottery wins.

Maria Stuhlemmer won $1 million in the Sept. 2 Lotto Max Maxmillions.

Trudy-Lyn Follick won $121,434.80  from the Sept, 10 Lotto 6/49 draw.

It took Stuhlemmer a week to check her ticket.

“The staff at the store was so excited about my win and gathered around to congratulate me. Customers at the store were also excited,” she said.

She took a limousine to Toronto to pick up the prize and plans to use part of it for a university scholarship to help students reach their full potential.

“I believe in the value of education and investing in the leaders and doctors of tomorrow,” she said.

Stuhlemmer’s winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Richmond Street.

After realizing that she had won, Follick didn’t tell her husband right away but waited till morning to call the OLG. She was told to validate the ticket.

In the evening, she shared the good news with her husband.

“I asked him to sit down because I needed to talk to him. Right away, he was concerned and then I handed him the validation slip. His eyes widened and he had the biggest smile on his face.”

She also took a limousine to Toronto to pick up her winnings.

“This is how I’m kicking off my plans for this windfall. I am also a big Harry Potter fan and I’m planning to treat myself to Harry Potter World at Universal in Florida,” she said.

“Most importantly though, this win will be shared with my husband and two adult children. Both my kids are at the home-buying stage of their lives and it will be great to get them over that initial hurdle that comes with any big purchase or home renovations.”

Follick purchased her ticket at the Woodstock Gas Bar on Highway 401.
