Gloria Melanson loves to cook and bake, so when she saw that Lay's Canada was bringing back its Do Us a Flavour contest, she got to work.

The 72-year-old grandmother may have gotten a little too enthusiastic, she says "Surprisingly so...I entered 1,002 different flavours."

But if you think that's a large number, keep in mind that in total there were over a million flavour submissions from across Canada.

Now Melanson's Cinnamon Bun flavour is among the four finalists, which also include Bacon Poutine, Jalapeno Mac N' Cheese and Tzatziki.

She says the idea came from a fond childhood memory, "She was always baking cinnamon buns and that was my favourite memory of my grandma."

Now a grandmother herself, she says her family is thrilled she made the finals and are all pleased with how the chip turned out.

"There is a touch of cinnamon, and the taste - they got of the icing - was surprising to me. I just love the taste, they're yummy. They're the yummiest."

The winner of the Do Us A Flavour contest is awarded $50,000.

"It's over the moon surreal. Who would've thought a little grandma like me would be chosen?"

Online voting continues until Oct. 15 at: https://www.dousaflavour.ca/
