Huron County OPP have charged a 33-year-old woman now living in London with six counts of animal cruelty after she allegedly abandoned her pets.

On Sunday, Huron County OPP officers were called to a vacant residence on Algonquin Drive in Huron Park to investigate a complaint of abandoned animals.

A witness reported the former tenant had moved out on October 31st, four days earlier, and left the pets behind.

Inside the residence officers found two skittish dogs and four deceased cats. There were no signs of water or food left behind for the animals.

Krista Hodgins, 33, formerly of South Huron and now living in London, has been charged with six counts of animal cruelty.

She is scheduled to appear in an Exeter court on January 23rd.

The dogs were transported to a veterinary clinic for an assessment and it is believed they will recover.
