A Woodland Heights Public School teacher has been nominated for a 2016 Canadian Family Teacher Award.

Scott Howe is one of 12 educators in the running for one of three awards.

According to Canadian Family, Howe is nominated for his guidance, support, and caring nature while helping his students achieve success.

"Howe employs a diverse set of teaching methods, tailoring them to each individual student’s unique academic requirements. One such accomplishment includes the personalization of an Individualized Education Plan for a student with a disability," according to a news release.

The three winners will each be awarded $2,500 for programming and supplies.

Voting is now open at  http://www.canadianfamily.ca/teacher-awards/canadian-family-teacher-awards-vote-now/ and will close on June 19.

Winners will be announced on Aug. 15.
