People receive an email with details about a traffic violation, with an attachment to “view” the ticket.
Police say not to open the link as it allows the sender of the email to access personal and financial information.
In some cases, a virus or malware is also added to the computer.
London police say never provide personal or financial information to anyone and it would never send an email regarding a traffic violation.
Victims of fraud are always urged to call police.
