London police are investigating one of its own after a sergeant was charged with assault.

On May 26, 2017, London police received information about the conduct of an officer.

A criminal investigation was launched and Sgt. Peter Paquette was charged with one count of assault on Tuesday.

The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 6, 2016 at London Police Headquarters.

At the time, the alleged victim did not make a complaint.

In the meantime, Paquette has been placed on administrative duties.

He will appear in court on Aug. 2.
