London police are investigating an early morning hit-and-run incident in the west end of the city.

Around 5 a.m. Friday, officers were called to the intersection of Commissioners Rd. West and Oxford Rd. West for a collision.

Sgt. Rob Brown says "It was a very violent and horrific crash that occurred here."

A female driver was taken to hospital with critical injuries, although she is now listed as stable.

Police have one person of interest in custody after a K9 search of the area.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

The intersection was re-opened to traffic shortly after 12:30 p.m., but the crash damaged two light standards so repairs will likely continue into the weekend.
