Two men are facing charges following a weapons call early this morning. London Police responded to the area of Richmond and Kent Street at around 2:35 this morning. When officers approached a man believed to be armed with a handgun, he fled on foot, and officers gave chase.

Police then set up a perimeter in the area to ensure public safety. An officer who was guarding the perimeter was allegedly assaulted by a man who attempted to enter the secured area. A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with one count of assaulting a peace officer.

Within a half hour, officers found a loaded handgun in the parking lot of 170 Kent Street. By 7:45 this morning, police located a suspect at an address on Mount Pleasant Avenue. A 19-year-old London man is charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, in addition to four other charges.
