A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a gas station at Oxford Street West and Westdel Bourne in London's northwest end.

Police say a male entered the gas bar around 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday armed with a tire iron and demanded cash.

An altercation between the employee and the suspect followed, resulting in both sustaining non-life-threatening head injuries.

The suspect then allegedly fled - without obtaining any cash - in a stolen vehicle that was found abandoned on Boler Road later that night.

Aaron Schuyler, 28, of London, was arrested on Wednesday and has been charged with:

  • attempted robbery
  • assault with a weapon
  • have face masked/disguised
  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused was being held in custody ahead of a court hearing scheduled for Friday.

Police are reminding the public that they are not encouraged to engage offenders, and should comply with demands of anyone committing a robbery and to call 911 as soon as possible.
