A London man is facing assault charges for allegedly hitting three pedestrians in the back with a sharp object while riding past on his bicycle.

London police are investigating the three alleged assaults, which took place between Dec. 8 and Dec. 15.

Police say in each case, a pedestrian sustained minor injuries.

In the latest case, the male victim gave chase and confronted the suspect briefly before reporting the incident.

All of the reported incidents occurred between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the area bound by St. George Street, Oxford Street, William Street and Central Avenue.

The victims included two men and one woman between the ages of 25 and 71 years of age, and are believed to have been targeted at random.

After reviewing surveillance video in the area, police were able to identify and locate the suspect. He was arrested on Tuesday.

He has been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon. He was being held in custody and will appear in court Wednesday.

Police are not excluding the possibility of there being other unreported incidents. Anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a similar incident is asked to contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670.
