Five schools near Hamilton Road and Trafalgar Street were on lockdown for an hour Friday morning as London police investigated a gun call in the area.

London police say the lockdown was lifted when they discovered it was a cap gun that a student reportedly brought to B. Davison Secondary School at 785 Trafalgar St. (formerly Thames Secondary).

Police received a call from another student informing them a gun had been spotted.

"We had five schools locked down in the area for safety precautions. The student had associates linked to different schools," says Const. Ken Steeves.

The lockdown ended once police found the student and were able to confirm the gun seen was a cap gun. Steeves says the student never threatened anyone or pointed the gun.

Officers say they are speaking with the child. The investigation continues.
