Students and parents concerned that the province was about to shut down schools for the deaf and visually impaired can breathe a sigh of relief.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Minister of Education Liz Sandals confirmed the province is now resuming admissions for the 2016-2017 school year at all four demonstration schools including London's Robarts and Amethyst School.

In February, the province launched a consultation to assess student needs at those schools in the face of declining enrollment.

Admissions for future enrollment were put on hold during the consultations, prompting protests by parents and students concerned that closure was imminent.
