One of the region's greatest athletes is being celebrated as his hometown recalls his biggest victory to date.
It's hard to believe, but a decade ago this week, Mike Weir won the marquee event in the golf, the Masters.
Residents said it's clear what Mike Weir means to the bedroom community of Brights Grove.
"Mike Weir has kind of put us on the map!" exclaimed one boisterous fan.
At Huron Oaks Golf Course in Sarnia, the decade old victory still looms large.
"When he did win, we we're all jumping and cheering, we just could not believe it," says Sean Kilduff, who had an opportunity to play with the Canadian legend when he was a kid ar Huron Oaks.
"It's hard to describe, it was almost as if i'd won it. and, you knew it was great for the town, it was great for him. and, if you knew Mike, it was something wonderful to happen to a very nice person," adds Kilduff.
