A high-end home in Lambeth that was destroyed by fire late Thursday night will be torn down Saturday while officials continue to investigate the cause.
The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office was expected on scene today to assist in the investigation into the fire that caused more than $1-million in damages.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Crews spent most of the night and early morning Friday dealing with hotspots.
Police say that the investigation into the cause was expected to take a significant amount of time due to the damage to the home.
Investigators began removing portions of the home that weren't destroyed to continue the investigation beying the threshold of the building.
Invesitgators still can't tell if the fire is suspicious or not.
"We have absolutely no idea, at that point," says Fire Inspector James Marshall. "That is why there are so many resources going into figuring out what has happened at this scene, we don't make any expectations or assumptions we just go in and dig."
Neighbours tell CTV News that the owners of the home have only lived there for less than a month.
"They've only been here less than a month, and everything is gone. they've lost everything," said Donna Nunn.
The family was not home at the time of the fire.
Officials say it could be days or weeks before a cause is known.
