A Komoka man has won $1 million playing Encore in a January Lotto 6/49 draw.

Daniel Bangarth, along with his aunt Maria Toth of Huntsville, travelled to Toronto to claim their prize.

Toth says she was stunned to learn of the win. “I put the ticket in my purse and forgot about it for two weeks. When I finally checked it, I was shocked.”

Bangarth was equally surprised. “She called me and asked me if I could take a day off work. At first I was worried, but when she shared the good news, I was flabbergasted."

Toth and Bangarth have been playing Lotto 6/49 together since the game started.

Bangarth plans to pay off his mortgage, make some investments and help out his children with his share of the windfall.

Toth plans some updates to her house. “My husband has arthritis. This money will help us make some renovations to our home to make it more comfortable for the both of us."
