Three bodies were discovered in a ground-floor apartment at 1223 Richmond Street North on Thursday morning.

A property manager apparently entered the apartment and found the bodies, then called police to the scene around 10 a.m.

Ryan Potvin says he awoke to the sound of police activity “I heard some sirens outside and went to my patio to look and there were two police vans pulling in and an ambulance pulling up.”

Members of the Major Crimes Section and the coroner are now jointly investigating the deaths.

Police say the investigation is in its very early stages, but evidence suggests the deceased are all members of the same family.

The cause and timing of the deaths remains under investigation, however some possible causes have reportedly been ruled out.

London police Const. Ken Steeves says “There is no indication when exactly it occurred. We have got to explore all options as to when it may have occurred, whether anybody saw anything, whether anybody heard anything.”

The apartment complex is just north of the Western University campus, so most tenants are students, but police say there is no indication at this point whether any of those inside the apartment attended the university.

Tenants say the frequent turnover of student housing makes knowing your neighbours difficult.

But Steeves says “We are not currently looking for any suspects at this time and there is no indication there is any threat to public safety.”

Once the identity of the deceased is confirmed and next of kin are notified, more details are expected to be released.
