A provincial inquest into the death of an inmate of Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre will take place this November.

Jamie High, 40, died on Dec. 23, 2014 at London Health Sciences Centre after being transferred from the prison.

The inquest will look at the events leading up to and surrounding High's death.

The jury may make recommendations in hopes of preventing similar deaths.

The inquest will start Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Best Western Stoneridge Inn.

It is expected to last five days and to hear from about 20 witnesses.
