Hydro One crews are continuing to work to restore power to nearly 100,000 customers in mid-west Ontario.

The hardest hit areas are Beachville, Clinton, Listowell and Walkerton.

Downed hydro lines and slick conditions also closed a number of roads with a number now being re-opened.

Warming centres were opened from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Perth Library and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the municipal office building.

Water was also brought in for those whose water supply was shut off by the power outage.

The water was being made available until 10 p.m. Saturday evening at the Shakespeare Fire Hall and the PERC in Milverton.

Hydro One says about 50,000 customers have had their power restored, with the majority expected to be back on line by 6 p.m.
