Huron County OPP are investigating a shooting incident that has left one man dead.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., Saturday, officers were dispatched to a shooting in the vicinity of the Hullett Wildlife Conservation Area north east of Clinton.

Police armed with rifles could be seen stationed near the area where a shooting spree was reported and Conservation Road was blocked at London Road (Highway 4).

Police dogs were also heard in the area and a forensics unit was at the scene as well.

The investigation is continuing.

But that's of little comfort to residents who were left confused and frustrated, after the flurry of police activity.

“We knew nothing on what was going on out there and I’m just concerned for everyone’s well-being,” said Rob Proper.

“More than anything, I’m just hungry for information of what is really going on,” said his wife Diane Proper who heard sirens.

“Quickly ran out, locked my doors, locked my trailer, made sure every door in my house was locked,” she said.

“Very seldom does anybody get shot around here” said Doug Farquhar, who has lived in Clinton for years.

The OPP are reminding all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.

Police say more information will be released once available.
