OPP are warning the public about a scam, where the victim is threatened by a “hitman.”
According to provincial police, the victim receives an email from an unknown person who identifies themselves as a serial killer who has been contracted to kill them.
The scammer implies that the victim has been betrayed by someone they know. However, they are willing to cancel the hit and divulge who hired them if the victim pays double the price.
This scam has been reported to Grey County OPP and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Anyone who encounters this scam is asked to contact police.
