OPP say a serious two-vehicle crash on Grand Bend Road north of Parkhill has left one driver in critical condition.

Middlesex County OPP were called to the scene between McGillivray Dr. and West Corner Dr. around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

A southbound Dodge pickup reportedly crossed into the northbound lanes colliding head-on with a northbound Ford pickup towing a trailer loaded with wood.

The driver of the Dodge, 44-year-old Richard Want of Bosanquet Township, had to be extricated from his vehicle by fire crews.

Police say he suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition in hospital.

The driver of the Ford, 21-year-old Kevin Kustermans of North Middlesex, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene and released.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were called in to assist with the investigation.

Grand Bend Road was closed for approximately six hours, but has re-opened.
