OPP say a serious head-on collision has resulted in life-threatening injuries Thursday morning.

The crash took place around 7:30 a.m. on the Highway 3 between 1st Ave and Balaclava bypass in St. Thomas.

Police investigation has revealed that a Chevy car was following a tractor trailer going westbound.  Police say the Chevy car pulled out to pass tractor trailer and collided head on with an east bound Mazda car. 

The 65-year-old female driver from St. Thomas of the Chevy car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the Mazda car, a 35-year-old female from London, was transported to hospital with serious injuries. 

The Hwy 3 bypass remains closed until later this afternoon as OPP Technical Traffic collision investigators assist with the investigation.
