Hanover police say one of their constables has been ordered dismissed for professional misconduct.

Deputy Chief Ret Kelly ordered the dismissal of Const. Robin Paige at a Police Services Act Hearing on April 15.

Police say it is effective immediately based on charges of discreditable conduct and insubordination.

The allegations stemmed from an incident on Jan. 19, 2015, where Paige was found to be under the influence of alcohol while on duty and refused an order made by a supervising officer to provide a sample of his breath to determine the level of his sobriety.

In July, 2015, a Police Services Act Hearing was concluded in Hanover after testimony before Kelly.

On Oct. 15, 2015, Paige was found guilty on both misconduct charges by Kelly that lead to a Sentencing Hearing on Jan. 20, 2016.

‎Paige remained on paid suspension in accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario from Jan. 19, 2015 until his dismissal on April 15, 2016.
