GUELPH, Ont. - The chief of an Ontario police service is remembering an officer killed in a crash this morning as a dynamic young woman with a passion for policing.

Guelph Police Const. Jennifer Kovach was responding to a call when her cruiser crossed the centre line and hit a Guelph Transit bus shortly after 12:30 a.m.

Police Chief Bryan Larkin says it's believed she lost control of the vehicle so investigators will look at whether road conditions were a factor, as there was a light snowfall at the time.

Firefighters extracted Kovach from her cruiser and she was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Larkin says Kovach, who had been with the force for four years, was fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a police officer.

He says she loved her dogs, loved riding motorcycles and loved making a difference in the city of Guelph, her hometown.
