Just days after the only grocery store in a town of 3,000 residents burned down, a shuttle to help people get their groceries has been announced.

The twice-weekly shuttle service from the Seaforth Legion to Moore’s Foodland in Clinton, Ont. will begin on Thursday.

It is set to depart at 9 a.m. and leave Moore’s Foodland around 10:45 a.m. to return to Seaforth. The 54 seat bus will run on a first come, first served basis.

The Seaforth Foodland was destroyed by a suspicious fire on Saturday, but no charges have yet been laid.

A temporary location is still being discussed, with the store’s owner Steve Delchiaro and the municipality saying the Seaforth Arena is the best choice.

But local residents, especially those involved in winter sports at the arena are worried that moving minor hockey, broomball and ringette to other arenas will hurt enrollment.

The new store is expected to be built by late December.
