A Grey County woman has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges.

Lee-Anne Varley-Hutchinson, 26, of Dundalk pleaded guilty on Monday to failing to provide three dogs and two horses with necessary care.

She also pleaded guilty to one count of failing to comply with the prescribed standards of care.

The charges stem from an OSPCA visit to a Meaford property in January, where officers removed the animals from Varley-Hutchinson’s care.

“Officers found two miniature horses living in unsanitary conditions without water, two emaciated dogs tied outdoors with inadequate shelter and a third dog inside a home in unsanitary conditions,” the OSPCA said in a statement.

Varley-Hutchinson has been fined $500 for each charge and has been banned from owning horses, ponies, and donkeys for 15 years.

The animals have since been relocated to new homes.
