Charges are pending, after a Grey County OPP cruiser was struck at the same intersection, twice in the same day.

The collisions happened on Highway 21 between Springmount West and Alvanley Tuesday morning. The stretch of road was closed due to blowing snow when the collision happened.

According to police, the cruiser was on the shoulder of the highway with emergency lights activated, while an officer checked an abandoned vehicle. That’s when the cruiser was struck from behind by a vehicle.

The officer was sent to hospital, but has since been released. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Flares were then placed around the cruiser to warn motorist of the investigation. That’s when OPP say a second vehicle ploughed into the rear of the cruiser. The occupants in the vehicle were uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
