A former officer with the Woodstock Police Service has been charged after an investigation by an external force.

William McLeod of Woodstock is facing one count of breach of trust.

Woodstock police launched an internal investigation in January, and requested the assistance of the Brantford Police Service for the investigation.

As a result, Brantford police charge McLeod in connection with an incident that reportedly occurred while he was employed as a police officer.

McLeod resigned from the police service in February.

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Oxford County Courthouse on April 14.
