TORONTO - Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri is all smiles at the team's camp Wednesday, fresh off signing a two-year contract.

Kadri calls the deal fair for both sides.

He says talks dragged on longer than he or the team wanted and it could have probably been done sooner.

But now that it's done, the 22-year-old centre is relieved and his teammates feel the same.

The contract is worth US$5.8 million.

Restricted free agent defenceman Cody Franson is not in attendance for the start of camp because he has yet to sign.
