Female cyclist dies following collision at Wharncliffe and Riverside

A 19-year old woman is dead following a crash involving a cement truck and a bicycle at the intersection of Wharncliffe Road and Riverside Drive.
Police say the 19-year-old female cyclist was transported to hospital with critical injuries.
Police will not identify the victim at this time.
According to investigators, the westbound truck was attempting to turn north on Wharncliffe when it struck the westbound cyclist.
The collision occurred around 3:15 p.m. Thursday and caused traffic headaches for many trying to get in and out of the downtown area.

Meanwhile, the company whose vehicle was involved in the crash as released the following statement:

Bad day for crashes across the region
Also on Thursday afternoon, a collision involvig a tractor and a motorcyle in Elgin County sent the two riders on the motorcycle to hospital.
The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. on Sunset Drive, just north of Port Stanley, and the road was closed from Roberts Line to Sparta Line for the OPP investigation.
Earlier in the day the eastbound lanes of Highway 403 were closed at Rest Acres Road near Paris after two eastbound tractor trailers collided.
One transport driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Also on Thursday morning, a three-vehicle crash south of Stratford sent three people to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred just before 9 a.m. at Highway 7 and Perth Line 20.
Perth County OPP say a tractor-trailer heading southbound on Highway 7 collided with a Subaru passenger vehicle that was eastbound on Line 20, then jack-knifed and left the road, hitting a hydro pole and a Ford sedan.
