CTV News London has learned that FedEx Office Print and Ship Centres across Canada will be closing, putting 214 people out of work.

Locally, it means London locations on Wellington Road and Fanshawe Park Road will be shuttered.

An automated message confirms that the location at 879 Wellington Rd will be closing by August 18.

Employees at the location at 595 Fanshawe Park Rd W also say that they will be closing but were not given a specific closing date.

A statement from FedEX says it gave "thoughtful evaluations before exiting the Canadian market after 32 years.

Here is the full statement e-mailed to CTV London:

"The decision to discontinue our operations in Canada was difficult as we’ve enjoyed a 32-year relationship with our team members and customers in Canada. We reached the decision to exit the Canadian market after thoughtful evaluations of our business operations and considerations about our future. We are very appreciative of the hard work and contributions of our team members, who took care of our customers and made it possible for FedEx Office to earn its reputation as a provider of the very best in production, printing and shipping services.

  • This includes all 24 centres, the manufacturing plant and our head office in Toronto.
  • This decision impacts 214 FedEx Office team members in Canada.

FedEx remains committed to Canada and ready to serve customers’ shipping needs. This decision only impacts FedEx Office Canada locations and services."
