On Sunday, shortly before 4:30 p.m., Perth County OPP officers were called to a snowmobile collision near Road 158 and Line 81 south of Listowel.
A police investigation revealed that a snowmobile had been travelling southbound on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail when it veered from the path and struck a tree.
Police say as a result , the female operator of the snowmobile, 53-year-old Vickie Kernohan of St.Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Western Region OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Unit attended the scene and is continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision.
