A crash on Springfield Road at Vienna Line in Malahide sent two people to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

OPP were called to the scene of the two-vehicle collision shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Investigators say a Pontiac Sunfire heading eastbound on Vienna Line failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by a GMC Envoy travelling southbound on Springfield Road.

The Envoy reportedly hit the Sunfire on the driver’s side, just behind the driver’s door, and the car’s driver had to be extricated by Malahide Fire Services.

The 51-year-old Aylmer woman driving the Sunfire and her passenger, a 43-year-old Tillsonburg woman, were both transported to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and later transferred to the London Health Sciences Centre.

The 32-year-old Port Burwell woman driving the Envoy and her four children, who were travelling with her, were not injured.

An investigation into the collision continues.
