Ekcoe Central public school students in Glencoe will be back in their own classrooms on Monday.
Students have been attending class at the Glencoe high school following a problem with mould at Ekcoe.
A letter sent out by the principal, Jennifer Richards, says the return comes after a “thorough remediation process.”
Parents and students arriving at Ekcoe on the first day of school discovered that the school was not open due to the mould concerns.
They missed the first three days of school and then started attending the high school.
Richards’ letter states that the occupational health and safety consultants overseeing the work have confirmed the school is safe to occupy as air quality tests show no evidence of mould.
“The site has also been viewed by parent representatives, employee representatives, (Thames Valley District School Board) staff members and the Middlesex-London Health Unit."
She outlined the process involved in returning to the school.
Ekcoe Central teachers will be provided opportunities to return to the school in phases over the coming days to prepare their individual classrooms.
TVDSB staff from facilities services and information technology services will test equipment and ensure that all technology is functioning.
Transportation services will return to regular routes and schedules on Sept. 26
Parents, guardians and community members are invited to an open house at Ekcoe Central on Sept. 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
