A London man is facing impaired driving charges after a pedestrian was hit in a parking lot Saturday night.

Police were called to Kipps Lane at Adelaide Street around 10 p.m. after citizens reported a truck driving erratically.

Police say the driver struck a pedestrian and citizens attempted to stop the vehicle.

According to police he also assaulted someone in the parking lot. "A citizen attempted to stop the vehicle and was assaulted by the driver," said Const. Amy Phillipo.

They say the driver stopped only after striking the front entrance to an apartment building.

The driver was arrested on scene.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 33-year-old man has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault.
