Lambton County OPP have charged a 20-year-old driver after police say he avoided a R.I.D.E. stop then rolled his vehicle into a ditch and it caught fire.

Officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on London Line and Mandaumin Road, just east of Sarnia, around 2 a.m. Thursday when the incident occurred.

Police say a vehicle approached the officers but then turned north on Mandaumin Road to avoid them, subsequntly rolling into a ditch and catching fire at Michigan Line.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle, and no injuries were reported.

After breath tests were administered, Dylon Tygesen of Strathroy-Caradoc was charged with driving while impaired and driving while over the legal limit.

He is scheduled to appear in a Sarnia court on Dec. 1.
