Tuesday’s City Council meeting saw one downtown project get the go ahead while the brakes were applied to another.

Councillors approved a controversial $300-million high-rise development that would see the historic Camden Terrace demolished.

Heritage advocates were hoping for further design changes in order to help save more of the Terrace.

Ultimately Council decided to go against a committee recommendation for more time and approved the project.

Meanwhile the brakes were applied to the Mayor’s request to accelerate the timeline for moving buses off Dundas Street in the core.

The timeline has been moved from April to September following a meeting with the General Manager of the LTC.
