Overnight parking returns to London streets this weekend and for many homeowners it can't come soon enough.

But did council drop the ball earlier this year when it had the opportunity to extend the popular program by several months?

During budget talks, city council was told extending overnight street parking from May 1 to October 31st would cost $260,000 per year.

That figure is an estimate based on how many $35 parking tickets wouldn't be written over that same period of time.

Council deemed extending the program too costly and the idea has been parked indefinitely.

"It would be great, if we could start parking on the streets in early spring that would be a wonderful idea," says Paula Jesty of London.

"The camper takes space as well so if it could be moved we possibly have room for three (vehicles)" says Londoner Anne.
