A cyclist is in hospital with serious injuries, after losing control of his bike near Shakespeare, Ont.

According to Perth County OPP, the cyclist was travelling on Line 40, west of Perth Road 107 around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the crash occurred.

The bike was reportedly travelling down a hill at a high rate of speed, when the rider lost control.

As a result the cyclist crashed – with the rider striking his head against the pavement. He wasn’t wearing a helmet.

The 42-year-old Township of Perth East resident was transported to a London hospital with serious injuries.

OPP is reminding the public to always wear a bicycle helmet, to reduce the risk of injuries.
