City Council chose not to issue any financial punishment for Mayor Matt Brown and Councilor Maureen Cassidy for violating three sections of The Code of Conduct.

Instead of a suspension of pay for up to 90 days council decided to issue a verbal reprimand.

Council and the City were rocked by another scandal from the Mayor’s office when the pair admitted to an affair last week and took leaves of absences. Cassidy also resigned her position as Deputy Mayor.

The Integrity Commissioner concluded that both broke three sections of Council’s Code of Conduct.

The Commissioner’s report served to increase calls from the public for Mayor Brown to resign, something he has said he is not prepared to do.

Brown returned to work after one week of unpaid leave while Cassidy remains on leave.
