An inquest into the death of a 46-year-old man while he was in police custody will start in December.

Christopher Coffey stopped breathing while he was being arrested by the Saugeen Shores Police Service on June 31, 2013.

He was rushed to the Southampton Hospital but later died.

An investigation by the province's Special Investigations Unit cleared the Saugeen Shores police of any wrongdoing, chalking up the man's death to an "acute manic episode."

An inquest is mandatory in this case.

It will last five days starting on Dec. 1 in Walkerton.
