There have been two provincial government announcements in London recently – including one Friday about helping people stay active – and London West Liberal candidate Ken Coran hasn’t been at either.

The Conservatives are raising questions about Coran being a no-show. Their candidate in the riding, Ali Chahbar, says it’s because Coran doesn’t want to talk about the issues.

“If the Liberals don't want to show up at events, that’s up to them. I'm ready to talk about the issues anytime, anywhere.”

But Deputy Premier Deb Matthews says it isn’t appropriate for Coran to be there.

“It’s a government announcement, not a political event,” she says.

However, last week in Toronto at an announcement on funding for a new subway line, the Liberal candidate for Scarborough-Guildwood figured prominently.

Coran wasn't available to speak to this issue and his team says his focus is on speaking with voters, not the media.

The Conservatives also continue to suggest a vote for the Liberals mean giving unions the keys to Queen’s Park.

“If you want the teachers’ unions to run the province, then vote the Liberal candidate,” says Tim Hudak, who was in London Friday.

“The challenge we have right now is the government contracts and the overspending. They are putting us on the path to Detroit.”

Hudak also attacked the NDP while in town.

The largest public sector union in the country – CUPE -  is endorsing London West NDP candidate Peggy Sattler.

“The problem is the NDP want more spending ...more expensive government contracts. We can't afford higher taxes.
