Commuters who use Springbank Drive at Commissioners Road will have to use an alternate route for the next few months.

Springbank is closed northeast of Commissioners and a portion of Commissioners just west of Springbank is also closed.

The closure is to allow for a new sewer service installation for a high-rise condominium development at Reservoir Hill.

A hole about three-stories deep will need to be dug for the project, which is why both roadways are being closed.

The project is getting started earlier than usual, but development engineer Thomas Ewing says communication is the key.

“We know we’ve got a big impact on people out here between the residents and the businesses so we’re going to keep everybody happy.”

Edward Soldo, director of roads and transportation for the City of London, says they try to space out the projects to minimize the impact.

Detours are in place, but he adds all they can do is “Just to ask drivers to be patient and use alternative routes when possible.”

Commissioners will be closed for five weeks, while Springbank is expected to reopen by May 1st.
