Police in St. Thomas are crediting an alert citizen with helping to take prohibited ammunition off the streets.

A resident notified police of a suspicious looking man sitting in a vehicle for an extended period of time on her street.

When police investigated, they found that the car's plates and sticker weren't registered to that vehicle.

The man also gave a name that didn't match the documents he provided.

A search of the vehicle uncovered almost 90 38-caliber bullets, two homemade nunchucks, a knife, a saw blade and a large magnet with sharp fragments attached to it.

A 34-year old Windsor man faces two charges of possession of prohibited ammunition, as well as breach of probation and obstructing police.
