Charges are pending after a serious crash in the core sent two people to hospital Sunday night.

Police say the driver of a Mustang that was westbound on Oxford Street near Talbot Street tried to avoid a rear-end collision and ended up driving over the boulevard.

A 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman walking on Talbot Street were struck and injured just before 6 p.m.

The man remains in hospital in fair condition while the woman has been discharged.

The 19-year-old driver of the Mustang was not injured.

Another pedestrian was struck later on Sunday night at Outer Drive.

The 59-year-old woman had several injuries, but has been released. Police said the driver failed to remain at the scene.
