OPP have laid charges in connection with a deadly single-vehicle crash on Napperton Drive last summer.

Emergency crews were called to the crash between Kerwood Road and Brown Road, just west of Strathroy on Thursday, June 19, 2014.

Police found an eastbound Lincoln had left the roadway, rolled over and struck a hydro pole in the south ditch.

The driver, 29-year-old Jeffrey Day of Strathroy-Caradoc, had to be extricated and suffered life-threatening injuries.

A passenger, 27-year-old Michelle Day - Jeffrey's sister - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a police investigation, Jeffrey Day has been charged with:

  • impaired operation/care or control of a motor vehicle/cause death – alcohol
  • exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content/motor vehicle/cause accident with fatality
  • cause death by criminal negligence
  • possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marijuana – under 30 grams

He is schedule to answer the charges in a London court on April 24th.
