A Huron East man has been charged following a standoff near Seaforth Wednesday afternoon.

Huron OPP converged on a property on County Road 12 early Wednesday afternoon following reports of a threat of violence.

Police set up a containment area around the property stretching from Hydro Line to Bridge Road.

Shortly before 5 p.m., a 40-year-old man was taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with uttering threats (cause death or bodily harm), possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, cruelty to animals, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon x2, assault and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He reamains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Police say there was never any threat or danger to the public during the incident.
