There will be no shortage of events to attend on Canada Day this year in London.

London Celebrates Canada will once again be held in Harris Park with a day full of events and activities.

Beginning at noon there will be a First Nations gathering following by opening ceremonies at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The day will culminate with a fireworks display at 10 p.m. with the best viewing in the park itself.

There will also be fireworks at the Byron Sports Optimist Park (651 Boler Rd.) with gates opening at 6 p.m. and the display beginning at 10 p.m.

The Optimist Club of East London will be holding events from 11 a.m. until their fireworks display around 10 p.m. at Argyle Arena.

If you’re in south London and looking for a fireworks display there will be one at 10 p.m. at the South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre at 1119 Jalna Blvd.

Due to Canada Day being a statutory holiday there will be several closures throughout the city.

  • LCBO and Beer Store locations
  • Libraries
  • Drug Stores
  • Government offices
  • No garbage collection – will resume on Thursday

  • City operated pools and golf courses
  • London Transit will run on a holiday schedule
