After Mayor Joe Fontana’s resignation from London’s Police Services Board, Councillor Denise Brown officially became his replacement on Thursday.

In a press release, chair Michael Deeb said “We are very pleased to have Councillor Brown join the Board. Her experience in civic politics and the local business community will be an asset.”

Brown’s appointment runs until Nov. 30.

Thursday afternoon’s meeting was expected to be busy, with discussions focusing on the force’s budget.

The city is aiming to avoid a tax increase again in the upcoming budget, and is pushing the police force and fire department to find cost savings.
